Conflict & Incident Monitoring — Curated Dispatches

About & Standards

Situation Wire is an independent, volunteer-run desk that monitors armed conflict and violent incidents and files short, sourced dispatches.

What this is

A small team tracks bombings, military movements, forced displacement and diplomacy across active conflicts and publishes brief dispatches in English, Spanish, French and Arabic. It is not a breaking-news service and does not try to be first; the aim is to be accurate and to be clear about what is and is not confirmed.

Sourcing and verification

Every dispatch lists its sources. Claims are attributed, not asserted — figures from officials, agencies or witnesses are described as such. Footage is geolocated where possible and treated as unverified until it is. Readers are asked to check against primary sources before resharing.

Corrections

Any substantive change to a dispatch after publication is logged publicly, with a timestamp and the editor who made it, in the Corrections Log.

Independence and funding

The desk carries no advertising and takes no institutional or government funding. Running costs are covered by volunteers and small donations, and editors work in their own time. If you can help — Join the desk · Support.
