Clashes in Sirba locality, West Darfur, have displaced roughly 18,000 people from more than 20 villages over the past week, with most reported to be crossing the border into Chad, UN agencies said. About 18,000 others were displaced within West Darfur in the first half of August.
Across the wider Kordofan region more than 200,000 people have been uprooted since late 2025. The International Organization for Migration recorded more than 4,200 people displaced from Um Arada in North Kordofan over a single weekend in mid-August. OCHA says Sudan's 2026 humanitarian appeal has received about 41 per cent of the funding sought.
