What we collect
Reading Situation Wire does not require an account. When you visit, our server keeps standard request logs (IP address, time, page requested, browser type) for a short period, to run the service and detect abuse. We set a small cookie to remember your chosen language, and — only if you sign in as an editor — a session cookie and a security (CSRF) token cookie. We do not use analytics or tracking scripts.
Information you send us
If you apply to volunteer, we store the name, contact details and text you submit, and the IP address the form was sent from, solely to consider your application. It is not shared or published. Tips and corrections sent to the desk are used to check and, where warranted, update dispatches.
Legal basis and retention
We process this data on the basis of our legitimate interest in operating an independent monitoring service and in keeping it secure. Request logs are kept only as long as needed for operations and security. Volunteer applications are kept until reviewed and for a reasonable period afterwards, then deleted. You can ask us to delete information you have sent by contacting the desk.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal data we hold about you, or to object to its processing. To exercise any of these, contact the desk through the Rejoindre le bureau page.
Changes
We may update this policy; material changes will be noted here with a new date.
